Terms of Use
Last updated · 2026-07-29
These terms govern your use of OddsGhost — the website and application at oddsghost.nz (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service in any way, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Who can use OddsGhost
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the legal gambling age in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher. In New Zealand this is 20 for casino gambling.
- You must not be located in, or a resident of, any jurisdiction where access to betting odds or sports data is prohibited.
- You must provide a real email address and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account.
2. What OddsGhost is — and what it isn’t
OddsGhost is a free, non-commercial, read-only sports and racing stats and odds dashboard — a personal hobby project, not a business. It aggregates publicly available match and race data, bookmaker odds, and TAB NZ racing data (provided under the TAB NZ Affiliates programme) and presents them alongside AI-generated commentary. It is intended for information and entertainment. Section 8 explains the funding model in full; section 3 lists exactly where the data comes from.
OddsGhost is not:
- a bookmaker, betting exchange, or gambling operator;
- a financial adviser, tipster service, or investment platform;
- a commercial product, a subscription service, or an advertising-funded site;
- an affiliate or referral partner of any bookmaker — we take no commission and place no tracked links;
- a guarantee that any odds, statistic, or AI insight is accurate or up to date.
Nothing on the service constitutes financial, betting, or investment advice. Any decisions you make based on information shown here are your own.
3. Where our data comes from
OddsGhost holds no proprietary sports data. Everything shown is aggregated from third-party sources, each of which remains the owner of its own data:
- MLB Stats API (
statsapi.mlb.com) and Baseball Savant / Statcast (baseballsavant.mlb.com) — schedules, live game state, box scores, and pitch-level data. - API-Sports (
api-sports.io) — team and player statistics, standings, and head-to-head records. - the-odds-api (
the-odds-api.com) — bookmaker odds and markets, where odds are shown. - TAB NZ Affiliates API (
api.tab.co.nz) — New Zealand racing cards, prices, and results, used under the TAB NZ Affiliates programme. - Open-Meteo (
open-meteo.com) — game-time weather forecasts, used under CC BY 4.0. - Anthropic — the language model that writes the AI insights described in section 5.
Data is used for informational display only. It is copyright of its respective owners and is not redistributed by us in bulk or as a feed.
OddsGhost is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Major League Baseball, MLB Advanced Media, the National Basketball Association, TAB NZ, any football league, or any bookmaker. All league names, team names, and marks belong to their respective owners and are used descriptively to identify the fixtures being displayed.
4. Accuracy of data
Odds, scores, statistics, lineups, standings, and AI insights are pulled from the sources above and refreshed periodically. We do our best to keep them current but cannot guarantee that any specific value is accurate or timely. Always confirm odds and match information directly with your bookmaker before acting on them.
Coverage changes over time. Some sports, markets, or sections of the service may be paused, limited, or withdrawn at any point — often simply because a data source is unavailable or too costly to keep running.
5. AI insights and statistical angles
Match insights are produced by a third-party AI language model (Anthropic’s Claude), generated automatically from the match data described in section 3. They are statistical commentary generated from match data, not expert opinion. They may be wrong, incomplete, or based on stale information. Treat them as one input among many.
The service also surfaces statistical “angles” — model-generated observations that may include a projected stat line and a comparison against a bookmaker’s price. These are automated estimates derived from historical and public data. They are not predictions, tips, or recommendations to place any bet, carry no guarantee of accuracy, and must not be treated as financial, investment, or betting advice. Any bet you place is your own decision and your own risk.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, mirror, redistribute, or resell any data shown on the service;
- use the service for any illegal purpose or in any jurisdiction where it is unlawful;
- circumvent authentication, access controls, or rate limits;
- attempt to gain access to other users’ accounts or data;
- upload, transmit, or attempt to inject malicious code, requests, or content;
- use the service in a way that imposes a disproportionate load on our infrastructure.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules without notice.
7. Account termination
You may delete your account at any time by emailing contact@oddsghost.nz. We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the service.
8. Not a commercial product — free to use, donations welcome
OddsGhost is a personal, non-commercial hobby project. It is run by one person, it is free to use in full, and it is not operated to make a profit. There is no paid tier, no subscription, no advertising, no affiliate or referral arrangement with any bookmaker, and no commission on anything you do elsewhere. We earn nothing when you bet, and nothing when you lose.
Running it does cost money — hosting, data feeds, and AI generation. If you find it useful you may voluntarily donate via our Buy Me a Coffee page. Donations are entirely optional and exist only to offset those running costs. They are gifts, not purchases: they buy no feature, no additional access, no priority, and no service of any kind, and they are not refundable. Nothing on the service is withheld from people who do not donate. Payments are handled entirely by Buy Me a Coffee — we never see or store your card details.
If this ever changes — if a paid tier is introduced, or the project stops being run on a non-commercial basis — we will update these terms and say so plainly before it takes effect. You will never be charged without your express agreement.
9. Intellectual property
The OddsGhost name, logo, design, and software are owned by us. The underlying sports data and odds belong to their respective providers — the bookmakers, leagues, and third-party data sources listed in section 3, none of which we claim ownership of. You may use the service for personal, non-commercial viewing. You may not republish, scrape, or redistribute the data we display.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, secure, or fit for any particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, all implied warranties are disclaimed.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, OddsGhost and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including loss of profits, betting losses, missed opportunities, lost data, or loss of goodwill — arising out of or relating to your use of the service, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory.
Where liability cannot be excluded under applicable law (for example certain rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 when the service is used by consumers), our total liability is limited to NZD $100.
12. Responsible gambling
If gambling is causing you or someone you know harm, free confidential help is available. See our Responsible Gambling page for helpline numbers and resources.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms or your use of the service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the revised terms. Material changes will be highlighted in the app before they take effect.
